Call to Service project guidelines

Who:
Artisan's annual Call to Service is open to small 501(c)3 organizations that have a finite copywriting, editing or communications project to achieve and little to no marketing budget to achieve it. Projects must be writing or planning based and do not include design or technical services. Since the goal of Call to Service is to help small and strapped organizations that are struggling to communicate their message to their community, Artisan clients and past clients are not eligible but are encouraged to refer other organizations.

When:
Project #2: To be completed between July 1 and December 1, 2012.

Application deadline for both is June 15, 2012.

What:

It’s simple. You have a communications project that you need done. You need a writer for it. You don’t have the budget for one. Examples include: press material, brochure, web site copy, newsletter/e-newsletter content, report, tagline, or other finite, one-shot project. Please note that design is not included; however, we are happy to connect you with affordable graphic and web designers in our professional network. I will choose one project to work on during each half of the year. All projects are selected at my discretion based on information provided in the application email.

Where:
Organizations do not need to be located near me in the Portland area. I work effectively with clients nationwide.

How:
To be considered, send a detailed email to me directly at sally [at] artisancopy [dot] com. Tell me what you need and why. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What’s your organization’s mission, location and history?
2. How do you get the word out with a limited budget?
3. What’s your most pressing need in the communications arena? Why?
4. How can I best help you?
