“When I needed impactful words to tell my business story, Sally carefully crafted the right message. When I needed help putting a book together, Sally gave me exactly what I needed. She's an outstanding editor, a thoughtful strategist and one helluva nice person. I cannot recommend her highly enough.”
Call to Service: Free Copywriting for Nonprofits
As Americans— including myself— participated in more than 11,000 service projects across the nation, our new president asked that we "turn today's efforts into an ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of others in (our) communities, (our) cities and (our) country."
And as I listened to these words, I realized that it’s time to make official something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time.
In my career, I’ve taken on several pro bono copywriting or marketing communications projects for nonprofit organizations that have a great mission but little or no marketing budget to get the word out about their good work. It’s always fun and it’s always rewarding.
This year, I’m going one step further. I’m launching an annual call to service for my business.
How will it work? I’ll be taking on one service project in the first half of the year, and another project in the second half of the year. I am looking forward to the annual commitment to use my talents in support of agencies and organizations that are doing work I believe in.
And today, I have begun accepting applications for the two 2009 slots.
The guidelines are simple. You can read them here. Applications for the first half of the year are due to me on January 31.
In service,
Sally
