Personality plus

You might notice it's been a while since I've posted here. I was AWOL while my webmaster was putting the finishing touches on the new web site. But my time away has been really productive-- exploring authentic marketing was a piece of it-- and you'll be hearing even more about it soon.

But right now, authentic marketing and marketing conversations, two topics I'm passionate about, are quickly heading into buzzword territory. To set some foundation about what I mean when I toss around these terms in relation to your marketing message, I want you to ask yourself these questions. (I'm asking them, too.)

  • What's the personality of my company?
  • Where am I using my own personality in marketing?
  • What's the conversation I want to be having with clients and customers?
  • Does the marketing really reflect that?
  • Which big brands really speak to me? How can I adapt what they're doing in my environment?

For a primer on this-- with some great "walk the talk" case studies-- pick up a copy of Rohit Bhargava's book Personality Not Included. Highly recommended.
